Representatives from radio, TV and the Guernsey Press won yesterday’s match by five goals to one .
Despite facing a confident opposition captain Leon Gallienne, it was the media who triumphed.
‘We are going to start as we mean to go on, going forward,’ Deputy Gallienne said at the start of the match.
‘The chief minister is up for it and looking to score his first hat-trick. We are really up for it as we get a lot of stick [from the media] during the year so this is our big day.’
Bailiff Sir Geoffrey Rowland was not playing this year having damaged his Achilles tendon in last year’s match. He said he had hung up his boots but was there supporting his former team-mates.
‘We are very pleased to win,’ said media captain Jack Mabire.
