A lack of bins and no collections for two days last year caused chaos when people dumped their recycling next to overflowing containers.
But this year Public Services put out an extra 40 bins to cope with the demand over Christmas and Boxing Day.
Although the bins were full on Saturday, there was little mess at sites such as Mont Cuet, Salerie Corner and Vazon car park.
States recycling officer Tina Norman-Ross thanked Guernsey recyclers for their continued support over the festive period.
‘The provision of extra bins and collections combined this Christmas seems to have worked,’ she said.
‘We would like to encourage islanders to love their island and recycle for Guernsey, now that daily collections – with the exception of New Year’s Day – have resumed.’
