NOT everyone was keen to play on Boxing Day, but Rangers are now mightily glad that they did.

The solitary game to go ahead of what was supposed to be a full Division One programme on Saturday provided plenty of entertainment considering the far-from-ideal conditions and left Paul Ockleford a very happy man.

‘The result puts us back in mid-table, where we should be, and we can look to build from here,’ said the Rangers coach.

‘I am very pleased. It’s been a good Christmas so far.’

His side’s victory was based on their first half display when the red-and-blacks were the far more lively outfit at the Corbet Field.

They were ahead within the opening 90 seconds thanks to the simplest of goals.
