Richard SearleBDO NOVUS has joined fellow network firms in 110 countries in adopting the single global trading name of BDO.

It was announced in October that all member firms of the world’s fifth-largest accountancy network would adopt the name BDO.

Approximately 20% of those made the change then, with the remainder needing to complete it by 1 January this year, which the local group did on Friday.

‘Locally, this development provides the firm with access to greater resources in the international network while still allowing us to retain our complete independence, ownership and control in Guernsey,’ said Richard Searle (pictured)), managing director of BDO Ltd in Guernsey.

‘Our close proximity to our clients and local approach has been the cornerstone of the firm’s success in Guernsey over the last 110 years and our commitment to this approach is mirrored by all the firms in the BDO network generally.’

The local office currently employs more than 40 staff at its base in Rue du Pre, St Peter Port, and is one of the largest independent firms of chartered accountants and business advisers in the island.

BDO International chief executive Jeremy Newman said it was an exciting change and one that had come after many years of strategic and operational investment and engagement.
