BELS proved last night why many are now tipping them for league success this year.
With the blue-and-whites picking up former players’ player of the year Craig Young from North and the reigning champions also losing island star Glyn Dyer and Kieran Mahon to St Martin’s, the scales have looked to tip in their favour.
But at a bitterly cold Blanche Pierre Lane yesterday evening they showed something that title-winning sides have – backbone.
They managed to find the back of the net deep into added time after the home side had equalised with less than two minutes to go.
‘They showed me a different side tonight, which was a lot of determination and commitment, and I’m pleased with that,’ said Bels coach Ian Champion.
‘We showed resilience and a lot of bottle considering that they equalised so late. It was excellent that we came back.’
