Weekend sport hit already

THE cold snap is set to play havoc with island sport this weekend.
Fixtures are already falling foul of the weather, with Rovers’ trip to Alderney to face Bavaria Nomads on Saturday in football’s Division Two having been postponed until the end of the month.
‘Due to the weather forecast and the possibility of the Rovers squad being stuck for days if they travel, it has been decided to rearrange this fixture now,’ said GFA fixtures secretary Garry Cortez yesterday.
The expected snow was just another headache for Cortez (pictured).
Football felt the full brunt of the wettest November on record and the pitches remained saturated throughout a damp December as well, which disrupted the schedule massively.
There are 16 other matches over all the leagues planned this weekend.
