AFTER weeks of preparation the Guernsey Colts indoor under-11 athletics team face the disappointment of seeing their trip to the Aviva Sportshall South East championships snowed off.

Head coach Bob Carre said yesterday morning that the event at the Burgess Hill Centre in Sussex on Sunday could fall foul to the wintry weather.

‘We are concerned,’ he said.

‘We are going to have to make a decision as they are forecasting another band of snow and ice coming in on Sunday and we don’t want to be stuck away with 30 children.

‘It is a bit frustrating.’

The Aviva Sportshall Primary Programme provides an essential component of the national competition framework for athletics.

Recommended and endorsed by England Athletics, the programme culminates in an exciting series of county finals supported by Eveque.

Sportshall provide the ideal format in which to introduce young people to athletics and multi-skills competition and features events such as speed bounce, soft javelin, chest push, sprint and hurdles relays, standing triple and long jumps, vertical jump and bean bag throw.
