JERSEY and the Isle of Man will still not publicly commit to adopting the same post zero-10 tax rates as Guernsey.

At last month’s States meeting, Chief Minister Lyndon Trott said that the UK Treasury had told him that all three islands had stated their resolve to a common approach, but as yet nobody from the other islands had given any figures.

That was in contrast to Guernsey, which said it would work around a presumed corporation tax rate of 10%.

And Jersey’s Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur has cast doubt as to just what assurances had been given.

‘Lyndon said the islands gave a commitment to a common approach.

‘I think it was a discussion we had – I don’t know if it was given to HM Treasury.

‘What Lyndon says is what Lyndon says.’

Senator Le Sueur said he was just trying to be clear about what Jersey told HM Treasury rather than what was said in talks between the islands.

Why do we have to do anything except refuse money from organised crime/terrorist groups. We could be back to milking cows if we lose a financial services edge!
