SENIOR island coach Tony Vance has urged Guernsey’s football public to back his side as they continue their campaign to win the Carlsberg FA National League System Cup next month.

The quarter-final tie against the Hertfordshire Senior County League will take place at the Corbet Field on Saturday 13 February, with a 2pm kick-off.

A victory would leave Guernsey just 90 minutes away from the cup final and the chance to represent England in European competition next season.

But, as Vance pointed out, this could be the last time a local audience gets the chance to see its team perform at home this season, and he wants a big crowd at the Corbet Field.

‘We know that if we get a good crowd at the Corbet Field we can create a great atmosphere down there,’ he said.

Vance recalled appearing for the island in front of big crowds at the Corbet Field during the 2003 Island Games.

‘That level of support really helps. ‘
