PAC gets Trott’s support to press on with WAO work
Monday 11th January 2010, 2:29PM GMT.
CHIEF Minister Lyndon Trott is supporting the Public Accounts Commitee’s pressing ahead with its report to improve the way the States works.
He said he would be participating in the public consultation process.
‘My strongly-held view is that the sooner the PAC consultations start and the more comprehensive it is, the better it will be for all the stakeholders in the community.’
The Policy Council had previously asked the PAC to delay any consultation until after a requete by Deputy Matt Fallaize is debated in February.
The petition would restrict any report to stay within the current consensus government model.
But the committee has decided to continue with its work to overcome severe deficiencies identified by the Wales Audit Office investigation into good governance, and is holding a public meeting on Thursday.
Deputy Trott (pictured) added that the Policy Council had not told the PAC to delay, but to give the matter further consideration.
