OFFSHORE law firm giant Appleby has announced it is to open a Guernsey office.

The legal, fiduciary and administration services provider intends to be operational in the island by the spring.

The new local practice will focus on corporate, commercial, private client, litigation, insolvency and restructuring as well as a complete range of fiduciary services, following Guernsey Financial Services Commission approval.

Appointments include that of group partners Barney Lee and Helen Crossley in the corporate team and partners Jeremy Le Tissier and Gavin Ferguson in its litigation, insolvency and private clients team.

All four will make the move from Ozannes.

Peter Bubenzer, Appleby’s global managing partner, said he was excited about setting up in Guernsey.

The firm has had a presence in Jersey since 2006, while the addition of a Guernsey office establishes Appleby as the only offshore legal, fiduciary and administration service provider with a major foothold in eight of the world’s leading offshore business centres.
