ONLY the most dedicated and hardiest of drivers turned out for the first round of the Sarnia Estate Agents Winter Series.

Efforts by the organisers and drivers to clear the track of snow and ice the previous morning were rewarded when the forecast snowfall overnight did not materialise.

Conditions were bitterly cold and damp and all drivers remained on wet tyres throughout.

In the cadet class, Bradley Ford took pole position for the first heat with Fraser Torode alongside.

Last season’s championship runner-up, Angus Torode, started fourth on the grid but moved up into second place on the first corner, taking the lead on lap two.

Behind him, Cameron Robert overtook Ford during lap three for second place.

Angus Torode eventually crossed the line ahead of Robert by more than 2.5sec.
