THIRD-placed Beechwood were the highest placed Guernsey team in the Channel Islands’ Primary Schools Football Competition as Janvrin defeated Victoria College Prep in an all-Jersey final at Hautes Capelles yesterday.

Beechwood failed to reach the final after they lost 1-0 to Victoria in the semis.

Iain McCallum got Victoria’s solitary goal when he slotted the ball home with a glorious left-footed strike from an incredibly tight angle.

Beechwood then went on to get the better of Hautes Capelles 2-0 in the third-fourth playoff.

Capelles had gone down at the hands of Janvrin in the other semi.

‘It was disappointing [not to make the final], but they performed better than I thought they would,’ said Beechwood coach Pete Sargeant.

‘They exceeded my expectations.’
