COMPETITORS both new and old turned out in force for the sixth round of this season’s Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club championship held in Fauxquets Valley.
The sections were laid out around privately-owned countryside incorporating wooded slopes, fallen trees, streams and swampy puddles.
During the morning’s junior championship, a large number of the senior riders took part in a separate tradesman’s trophy challenge. This involved a handicap system and had all levels of riders attempting to negotiate the same course.
Some novices who found this difficult opted to give up and save themselves for the afternoon’s championship event.
Once the scores had been calculated the clear winner was up and coming teen rider Ben Aston. Brian Torode was second with Ricky West four points behind in third.
Returning to the juniors, things were hotting up between Chris Le Page, Sammy Bott and Ben Le Page on the intermediate route.
These three 12-year-old lads are showing improving skills on every outing and are capable of mixing it with many senior riders.
Eventually the honours went to Ben, who found the course more to his liking.
