Vance remains focused on ‘very important’ cup tie

Thursday 14th January 2010, 2:30PM GMT.

Tony VanceISLAND boss Tony Vance hopes that the Clydesdale Bank International Tournament does not clash directly with Guernsey’s vital FA Carlsberg National League System Cup quarter-final with the Hertfordshire League.

Under the guise of the Guernsey Senior County League, the Vance-coached team are meeting the Hertfordshire Senior League representative side on Saturday 13 February at the Corbet Field.

The match has a 2pm kick-off.

However, the same weekend will witness the inaugural Clydesdale Bank International Tournament at Foote’s Lane.

Clydesdale Scottish Premier League outfits Motherwell and Hamilton Academicals are sending sides over to play Guernsey Athletics and a yet-to-be named other team, possibly Jersey Scottish, traditionally one of the leading sides in the Caesarean game but surprisingly struggling this campaign.

‘It’s great for Tics, but I’m more concerned with our very important game and trying to get into the semi-finals of an important national competition,’ said Vance (pictured).

Those dates were chosen for the Clydesdale Bank International Tournament as there is a break in the Scottish Premier programme that weekend.
