Ben wants to see the Bluebirds flying high
Friday 15th January 2010, 1:00PM GMT.
GUERNSEY-based property developer Ben Steele has confirmed that he is interested in buying ailing Championship football club Cardiff City.
The 32-year-old multi-millionaire revealed to the Guernsey Press that he has had meetings with Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale, some of which have taken place in the island.
‘I’ve been talking about making an investment or buying the whole club,’ he said.
‘Hopefully, we’ll get something agreed and we’re in the process of starting due diligence. We’ve got lawyers lined up ready and we’ve got the money ready.’
Mr Steele (pictured) is married with two young girls. He became successful selling cars in the south of England.
He was a salesman at the age of 17 and by the time he was 21 he had his own garage.
After making his money, he retired to the island two-and-a-half years ago.

it would be great if he would perhaps put a little of his wealth into a local club in his adopted new home

All Cardiff City supporters would like to congratulate Mr Steele on his amazing financial success. His journey from being a (presumably relatively unqualified) car salesman to being a multi, multi-millionaire in the space of only 15 years is an absolutely remarkable story about which I am sure we would all like to know more. Unfortunately, having scoured the internet, none of us seem to be able to find a single piece of evidence about Mr Steele’s wealth apart from his own claims in various newspapers.
Strangely, Mr Steele does not appear in the Times Rich List despite, according to his valuation of his own wealth, being the third richest person under-35 in the whole of the UK and Ireland. This would also make him one of the five richest people of any age in the Channel Islands. I am sure that such a person must be very well known on Guernsey and that many of his friends on the island would be happy to let us know more about Mr Steele’s remarkable rise. Perhaps you would be kind enough to join us on the Cardiff City supporters meassageboard http://www.ccmb.co.uk
