Rangers 3, Sylvans 1
DELANCEY Park returned to stage top-flight football as Rangers continue their climb up the Division One table on the back of a convincing first-half performance.

Two cracking goals from Ross Allen and another from Josh McClean earned Paul Ockleford’s side a 3-0 interval lead.

Sylvans were much improved after the break and pulled one back through Aaron Ferbrache on 67min. but there was never any realistic prospect of the league’s bottom side salvaging something from the game other than respect.

As Clive Bateman well knows, when you are bottom nothing goes your way.

Such is the length of his injury list and other absentees he had prayed the game would go the same way as the proposed Division One games at Blanche Pierre Lane and the Corbet Field.

But the GFA were determined to get the game on and with both Rangers grounds – the College Field and St Andrew’s unfit for use – they turned to the old school ground which has not been used to ‘Priaulx’ League football for probably half-a-century.
