Jersey enjoyed the upper hand over the first three sessions of the re-arranged Channel Islands Championships, but the Sarnians were dominant in the singles, Lucy Beere winning her first CI crown, Gary Pitschou adding another title to his array, and Lianna Bichard claiming the women’s under-25 singles.
And all this after Todd Priaulx had edged out Jamie Macdonald 21-19 in the men’s under-25s earlier in the day.
After this, Guernsey bowls could operate under the slogan ‘We do it better alone’.
That, though, was not strictly the case with Beere.
On Saturday the 27-year-old had won the women’s pairs in tandem with Jan Lawrence in spectacular fashion.
They thumped Margaret Le Marquand and Pat de Gruchy 34-2, winning all but one end.
