MANAGER Billy Reid, who last night took his Hamilton Academical team to Ibrox for a Scottish Cup replay, has vowed to play as strong a team as possible in Guernsey next month.

The Accies and fellow SPL side Motherwell are the main attractions for the inaugural Clydesdale International Bank Tournament at Foote’s Lane and Reid (pictured) said his club were well up for the weekend trip.

With the same two SPL sides playing each other at first-team level the same weekend – 13/14 February – Reid said that Guernsey would get the chance to sample their best young talent, who currently lie second to Celtic in the Clydesdale SPL Under-19 League.

‘We’re really looking forward to it… is a fantastic opportunity to go abroad,’ said Reid yesterday lunchtime, just hours before his club took on Rangers in the cup.

‘It will be mainly our under-19 side and a couple of fringe players. We want to send our strongest side we can, but what will dictate is who we need for the first team.’
