Big Scots clash will be held over

THE likely Clydesdale Bank Tournament decider between Hamilton Academicals and Motherwell has been kept well away from the island’s FA Carlsberg National System Cup quarter-final against the Hertfordshire League.
The four-team two-day Clydesdale event featuring the two Scottish Premier League sides, Guernsey Athletics and Jersey Scotish, will be staged on the same weekend of the vital island game.
And while one tournament fixture will unavoidably go on at Foote’s Lane at the same time as Guernsey’s game at the Corbet Field, it will be the one game with arguably the least local interest – Motherwell v. Jersey Scottish.
The big game between the two SPL sides will kick off at noon on Sunday the 14th and, most probably, will be the deciding clash.
Meanwhile, as part of a plan to make the Clydesdale Bank International Football Tournament one of the most prestigious football events in Guernsey, the Clydesdale Scottish Premier League Trophy will be flown down for the occasion.
The trophy, worth about £35,000, is one of the biggest trophies in European football.
