HUNDREDS of islanders seized the opportunity to see the controversial winner of a national photographic competition when it went on show on Saturday.

The disqualified image was the star attraction in an exhibition at Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery– but if islanders want to see the photograph they will have to be quick.

It is likely to be removed from the touring show early this week.

The winner of the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, Jose Luis Rodriguez, was stripped of his award after judges became convinced that he staged his picture of a wolf.

But those visiting the exhibition were divided about whether it should be taken down.

Tania Hood was at the exhibition with her sons Matt, 11, and Nick, 10.

‘It’s not right because it is supposed to be a wildlife photograph but it is still an amazing photograph, the way he has captured the light,’ said Mrs Hood.

Both brothers thought the photograph should be exhibited.
