A WALL of bank notes has been persuading pupils at Elizabeth College to raise money for Haiti.

Principal George Hartley came up with an idea that involved covering a large map of the world with £1, £5, £10 and £20 notes.

It symbolises the planet’s response to the appeal following the earthquake, which saw thousands lose their lives on 12 January.

Pupils have taken part in activities such as cake sales to raise the cash.

Students at Beechwood collected nearly £300 last week.

Charity committee coordinator Dominic Rowe, 18, said that as everyone was doing something to help, the school wanted to help as well.

‘We are quite a wealthy school, so we thought we would put in our money’s worth.’
