MEMBERS of the Guernsey Postal Flower Association yesterday met Guernsey Post to discuss pricing concerns.

Chairman Mark Fletcher, of Fletcher’s Freesias, said the association had received an invitation from Guernsey Post chief executive Gordon Steele to go through prospective price increases that will come into force in April.

The changes include pricing in proportion [PiP], which will be implemented here after Royal Mail decided to charge Guernsey Post on that basis.

PiP means letters and small packages will be priced according to their weight and size rather than weight alone.

Some postal customers can flatten their packages, but flower distributors cannot and will therefore be hit by the price increase.

Mr Fletcher said it was concerning.
