ISSEY NORMAN-ROSS faced her French challenge and triumphed to extend her reign as Guernsey women’s champion to a third consecutive year.

The Ogier Senior Island Squash Championships was played from Thursday to Sunday at Beau Sejour, with 40 top players playing one match a day in men’s A and B or women’s categories.

In the women’s competition, the top four seeds comfortably progressed into the semi-finals without dropping a game.

Norman-Ross, 16, then managed to stay a few points ahead of Gemma Coquelin in winning 3-0 a match that saw some well-contested rallies.

In the other semi, Enora Villard made a better start and clinched the first game 11-7 against Natalie Dodd.
