A DELIGHTED couple yesterday spoke for the first time about their joy at having twins.

After a decade of trying to have children and four IVF attempts, conceiving was something that Susan and Eddie Costley were about to give up on. But when Susan, 47, was told that her sister was expecting, Eddie, 56, wanted to have one last try.

Nine months later, twins Carlton and Susanna were born.

It has made Mr Costley a father a month after his youngest brother, who is 49, became a grandad.

‘I was just ecstatic when I found out I was pregnant – I just couldn’t believe it,’ said Mrs Costley. ‘I did six pregnancy tests to make sure and told Eddie the next day. It was such a thrill.’

Carlton and Susanna were born at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital six-and-a-half weeks ago at 35 weeks.

    @Andy
    So he is too old to be allowed to have children?

    Also, what are your suggestions to deal with this overpopulation?

    @andy..here is a couple that were desperate for children..despite there age these children were planned.Unlike some ppl who have them when they are so young that they can not afford to feed or put a roof over there heads (thus use the states for support) ie our money.
    As for the overpoulated island lets steralise all the ppl with far to many kids that keep churning them out and are claiming benafit.
