Law firm Ogier is taking Guernsey to Hong Kong
Monday 1st February 2010, 2:30PM GMT.
A GUERNSEY advocate is to head a new Ogier practice in Hong Kong.
Marcus Leese, a partner at the Guernsey legal practice, will transfer to the Ogier Hong Kong office in May.
The decision to launch a Channel Islands operation in Asia comes in response to an increase in client demand for Guernsey and Jersey legal and fiduciary services in the region and after a considerable amount of planning and research, including canvassing clients and intermediaries.
‘We have identified a keen interest in clients requiring Guernsey services in Asia,’ said Advocate Leese (pictured).
‘Having a physical presence there will mean we can advise clients in their own time zone and promote the benefits of using Guernsey on a permanent basis in the region.’
Advocate Leese has been practising in the island for 11 years. He is also admitted as a solicitor in New Zealand and in England and Wales and specialises in private client trust matters, investment funds, banking and corporate and commercial work.
