CARL WALLBRIDGE dominated the latest round of the Autocross Winter Championship in his 4×4 Escort, winning every race he could compete in with apparent ease.
Marilyn Robilliard beat Rachel Bihet for the women’s race and Shane Le Poidevin lost a point to Peter Rose in standard tyres.
With defending champion Ozzy Ozanne (car 1) nursing a sick Honda Prelude and a sideways Jaguar, it was left to Wallbridge (202) to clean up.
He qualified ahead of club stalwart Richard Smith (133) and with Ozanne letting Peter Jory (303) into the lead with two laps of his heat race left, Wallbridge was unchallenged in the race of firsts.
He had Callum Queripel (98) and Leeroy Sebire (111) for company but the Escort disappeared at flag-fall to claim maximum points.
Ozanne won the race of seconds and still leads the championship from Queripel and Sebire. Bihet (61) was leading the women’s race until she picked up a puncture two laps from the finish flag. Robilliard (89) passed her on the last lap.
The result sees Bihet ahead in the points but not able to wrap up the title this meeting.
