Bouet buys meet part-owner need
Thursday 4th February 2010, 1:00PM GMT.
MORE than 160 households want homes they can part-own.
And while Guernsey Housing Association is working hard to meet the demand, they will have to be patient, said GHA chief executive Steve Williams (pictured).
‘A lot of people are struggling to afford properties and are having to live in rented accommodation. Because we know there is a demand, we are working to create more of these types [partial ownership] of properties. It won’t happen tomorrow but projects are in the pipeline.’
Some of the new homes already planned for the Grand Bouet will be partial ownership.
And Mr Williams said when the rest of that estate was cleared, some of the next phase would also be earmarked for occupation by part-owners.
The latest project to stem the demand is four properties in the former Petit Bouet.
Following the successful modernisation and sale of 10 other properties in the area, the GHA is buying 13 to 16 Petit Bouet.
