Hands off our pint, say publicans

PUB landlords in Guernsey want to keep the traditional pint and not switch to litres.
A consultation exercise by Commerce and Employment to review weights and measures legislation is asking islanders whether they think it is appropriate to retain pints at licensed premises.
It is considering allowing draught beer and cider to be sold in metric quantities.
But Calum Le Noury (pictured), general manager at Les Rocquettes Hotel, advised Commerce and Employment not to meddle.
‘I think we should leave the traditional pint as it is.
‘Over a period of time people would be drinking more,’ he said.
Fontaine Inn landlord Colin de Jersey agreed.
‘I’d like to see it stay as it is. If it changes it would be another way of putting up prices. We are happy as we are.’

Although I can’t say I’d lose any sleep if they changed to metric, it will cost the publicans money to implement it and I can’t say I see much benefit in the change. Leave it as it is….
