Watson progresses into quarter-finals

HEATHER WATSON made life difficult for herself as she progressed through to the quarter-finals of the $25k AEGON Pro-Series Sutton tournament.
The Guernsey-born reigning US Junior Open champion was taken to three sets yesterday by the competition’s number six seed, Sarah Gronert.
The match lasted a monster three hours.
‘Let’s put it this way – if you were her dad you would have had lots of grey and kittens,’ said her mother Michelle.
‘[She made her life] really difficult, but it’s job done.’
While Watson is going strong in the singles, it was not the same case in the doubles.
With old partner Tara Moore, they crashed out of the last 16 at the hands of British pair Naomi Cavaday and Anna Smith on Wednesday evening.
They went down 4-6, 1-6.
