Practice making perfect for leaders
Tuesday 9th February 2010, 2:29PM GMT.
LA VILLETTE Gremlins continued their seemingly relentless march towards the Image Group Premier Division title with their second whitewash win of the season.
The victims this time were DWA Mavericks, whose only hope of a frame came at the death when Steve Merrien lost to John Skillett on the black.
The hours of practice being put in by the Gremlins reaped dividends on the Mavericks home tables.
With La Villette having dropped just eight frames in their last six matches Martin Budge and Martyn Desperques opened proceedings for them.
The former has shown good form on his return to snooker with eight wins this season, while Desperques has not lost in the Premier for 32 matches.
Seb Priaulx continued the rout by beating Ryan Le Page, leaving Skillett to wrap matters up comfortable in the knowledge that their lead over the Galacticos was likely to extend.
And so it proved to be as the defending champions unexpectedly found themselves trailing 4-2 to Ex-Service Hot Butts.
