Night-time spinners wreck it but this car park is staying open

Wednesday 10th February 2010, 2:29PM GMT.

George DomailleTHE Environment Department has ruled out closing Pembroke Bay car park at night.

The L’Ancresse Commons Council has put up a temporary bank to block off its section of the car park for the winter.

Council president George Domaille (pictured) said the decision had been vindicated when vehicles doing doughnuts and figure of eights tore up the States half of the car park.

‘It happens frequently and it happened again last week,’ he said.

Mirage proprietor Liam McKenna had previously suggested gating off the car park at night.

A spokesman for Environment said work to repair the car park would start soon and should be finished by the end of March, but he ruled out night-time closing.

‘The department does not support the suggestion that the Pembroke car park should be closed due to the behaviour of a small minority,’ he said.

    Hi.

Surely it would make sense to just tarmac the car parks.
No or very little maintenance required!
With all the time it takes to keep these areas tidy it would save money in the long run.
    No potholes etc etc.
