THE four French sailors rescued when they abandoned their yacht off St Peter Port on Monday due to a fire in the engine bay are hoping to head home today.
Repairs to the yacht, the Anita Bomba, have been completed.
Skipper Martin Dumont said they were lucky the engine was not too badly damaged.
‘It was quite easy to repair. We are just waiting for a new life-raft before sailing back.’
The crew were rescued from the raft on Monday lunchtime by the crew of the Sark Venture, which had just left port,
Mr Dumont, Christopher Letac, Lelay Yann and Jacquot Thomas were on a trip organised by a sailing school in Paimpol, near St Brieuc.
