YOUTH workers can meet young people on their own patch thanks to a new streetbus.
The Drug and Alcohol Strategy has launched the initiative, in partnership with Help a Guernsey Child and the Youth Service Committee.
Strategy coordinator Andrea Nightingale said that when others saw how user-friendly the streetbus was, she hoped all organisations delivering services to all ages would seek to get involved.
‘We want to focus our attention on young people who are vulnerable for a variety of reasons and have been unable to find the support they need from other groups, parents and teachers,’ she said.
Those who did not want to attend organised activities could now meet friends in a warm and sheltered environment.
The bus was designed by young people and created with the help of those attending the Karabiner programme.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this bus first hand – it really is an excellent facility and I hope it is well used.
