Vance: ‘We must not slip up now’

Friday 12th February 2010, 2:30PM GMT.

Tony VanceDON’T do a Jersey and slip up now.

That’s the message island boss Tony Vance is stressing to his players ahead of tomorrow’s FA Carlsberg National League System Cup quarter-final against Hertfordshire.

Despite clearly being the better team, the Caesareans, under the guise of the Dandara Jersey Football Combination League, were dumped out of the third round of the same competition by the Dorset Premier League.

Jersey could see the pot of gold at the end of this particular rainbow, but let the chance slip with a painful and undeserved 1-0 defeat at the end of last month.

Vance (pictured) was there and does not want to suffer the same mental agony.

‘I don’t want to have missed opportunities,’ said Vance.

‘It’s good news that Jersey have been knocked out as they were one of the strongest teams in the competition, but we’ve got to look at that. I believe Jersey have had a missed opportunity.’
