Valentine’s Day is also big business for Guernsey Post. Pictured is chief executive Gordon Steele with Moonpig operations director Jeunene Bell. (0915909)
Moonpig operations director Jeunene Bell said they were working hard to get cards out on time.
‘We have 35 staff normally, but that goes up to 55 over Valentine’s,’ she said.
‘In the run-up, we have staff working 24 hours a day. It is one of the busiest periods for us.
‘Unlike Christmas, when cards can be sent over a period of time, you need to send Valentine’s cards for one day.’
On an ordinary day Moonpig processes between 20,000 and 50,000 cards, but that rises to two million over the week leading up to Valentine’s Day.
