Crowsley, 41, is the managing director of Forest Road Garage and he will compete against teams from all over Europe in a four-hour race at the Adria International Raceway near Venice.

‘It is a real honour to have been selected to race in Italy for Mazda UK,’ he said.

‘I attended a day at Croft Circuit last week where I meet the rest of my team and did some tyre testing. Having had some track time with the car, I know the racing will be very close, as the cars are all the identical.

‘We have a Le Mans-style rolling start to look forward to and all 32 cars will be doing over 100mph before the first corner. It’s going to be a busy couple of days when we get to Italy.

‘Along with practice sessions and track familiarisation we have to work through strategies for tyre and driver changes, as well as re-fuelling. As with any form of motorsport there are lots of rules and regulations we have to comply with but despite all the hard work it will be a thrilling experience and I can’t wait to get out to Italy.’
