Carol SteereEDUCATION has said it is too soon to determine whether the structure of a proposed Guernsey Skills Agency would result in it losing control of the College of Further Education.

Consultants Frontier Economics recommended the creation of a the agency to develop and implement a States skills strategy.

The body would comprise a selection of political board members from Education, Commerce and Employment, Housing and Social Security

It would operate above the GTA University Centre and the CoFE and decide upon service level agreements with the organisations.

Education minister Carol Steere (pictured) said the department had not had time to discuss the report’s recommendations in detail.

‘That [control of CoFE] is part of the detail that we have not discussed yet and until the rest of the board have met and we have had a presentation on the implications I would rather hold off on commenting,’ she said.
