MOTHERWELL had the tournament sewn up by early evening on Saturday.
After two wins, 1-0 against Athletics and 2-0 against Jersey Scottish, they sat back and watched their big rivals from Hamilton drop two vital points against the Guernsey side in the last game of the day.
Having also drawn with Jersey Scottish in the opening game, Frankie McAvoy’s young side had kissed goodbye their chance of pipping their Scottish rivals for the trophy.
Motherwell looked the best and most technically mature side from the start, although they handicapped themselves by having Jamie Pollock sent off by referee Colin Wherry for two yellow cards in their opening game.
He was forced to sit out the next game.
And yesterday lunchtime in the final match of the tournament they proved it by defeating the Accies 3-1.
