Dorset ‘there for the taking’

Tony VanceDORSET are there for the taking.

That is the view of respected Jersey Evening Post football correspondent Andy Bradshaw after learning that Tony Vance’s side has drawn the conquerors of Jersey in the semi-finals of the Carlsberg FA National League System Cup.

Guernsey have it in them to win, said Bradshaw, who covered the game at Springfield.

‘Dorset were a strong and organised side but we [Jersey] just pushed them and pushed them in the second half and they did tire,’ he said.

‘They are there for the taking. If you’ve got your shooting boots on, I’m sure you’ll beat them.

‘Their keeper was a bit fortunate because we put everything in his reach. A foot either side of him and we could have quite easily beaten them. We just missed too many chances. You’ve got to take them when they come along.’

Vance (pictred) watched Dorset sneak a 1-0 win over Jersey in their quarter-final match at Springfield when the consensus was that the Caesareans should have won at a canter. Vance, for his own reasons, declined to comment on what he thought of the Dorset side.
