ENVIRONMENT wants to install pedestrian lights in a bid to improve safety at an accident blackspot.

It is seeking planning permission for the lights at Les Rouvets, Vale, at the junction of Camp du Roi and Landes du Marche.

A single phase light to cross Landes du Marche was installed in 2007.

People living in the area and business owners have welcomed the news.

Tim Luscombe, who co-owns Cycle World, which is right on the junction, thought it was a good idea.

‘It’s a busy junction,’ he said. ‘I think it will help people get out of our driveway. It will make it safer.’

The plans include realigning part of the boundary wall of Jean Allen’s home to widen the pavement.

The full Press story suggests that there could be problems with the traffic light installation as the wall at the site is ‘listed’

I presume this means that it is ‘listed’ as an Ancient Monument.

    How ridiculous.
