Sark jibe prompts call for boycott

A WOMAN in Northern Ireland was so incensed about derogatory comments made about Sark that she is urging readers of The Lady magazine to cancel their subscription.
Freelance writer Pamela Rea, 65, was outraged after the magazine’s new editor, Rachel Johnson, Boris Johnson’s sister, spoke about taking the job.
In an interview with the Sunday Times, Ms Johnson said the magazine had never changed.
‘It’s like a 1950s care home in Sark,’ she said.
The article on 24 January said Ms Johnson found being disliked uncomfortable, but she had to turn the editorial content away from advice on wills and incontinence pads.
‘I want Mikimoto pearls and Range Rovers instead of self-testing kits for bowel cancer.’
Mrs Rea further objected to comments made about Julie Andrews when she fronted the cover of the Christmas edition.
She said Sark residents should demand an apology for the remark.

Why is it that people get so wound up about nothing? Why are people so over-sensitive? Do they really have nothing better to do?
The Sarkees are a pretty thick-skinned lot who have handled the Barclay Brothers and the German Army – I doubt they will care two hoots about a frivolous comment by Boris Johnson’s sister in a women’s magazine.
For goodness sake, find something worthwhile to devote time and energy to instead of flying off the handle at nothing.

Oh, please get a life. Actually I think it would be bliss to be in a care home on Sark – if such a thing existed. Everyone out there cares for their own families and others so such an institution is not needed. An ideal world.
