GUERNSEY Yacht Club reopened yesterday after a gas leak nearby forced it close.

Rear commodore, house, Jason Hobbs said the club had taken the decision to close on Monday while Guernsey Gas carried out investigation work.

‘It was a small area of gas leaking from a pipe in the road and we experienced a smell in the yacht club, so we decided to close until it was resolved.

‘Guernsey Gas have been very good at identifying the source and resolving the matter,’ he said.

The club temporarily opened Wednesday lunchtime, but then shut Thursday and opened again on yesterday afternoon, after the problem had been sorted out.
