A BLUSTERY day at Les Amarreurs saw Ian Scholes win a fast and furious race as the Guernsey Triathlon Club held the second race in the De Putron Fund Management Duathlon Series.

Sunday’s race was a super duathlon, which meant a one-mile run, six-mile bike, one-mile run, six-mile bike and one-mile run for competitors.

Fast transitions were essential and some competitors even kept their cycle helmets on for the run to save some vital seconds.

At the start, the leaders set a very fast pace over the first short mile-run across the Chouet headland.

Jonathan Greenfield grasped an early advantage and led into transition, followed by Ian Scholes and Tim Andrews.

However, Scholes pushed hard on the bike and took the lead shortly before entering the second transition, and then proved uncatchable through the remaining stages to cross the finish line in 52-51.

Greenfield was second in 54-04, with Adrian Thorley using his strength in the final run to take third.
