States calls for good response to survey

Tuesday 23rd February 2010, 2:30PM GMT.

Andy SloanCOMPANIES now have until Good Friday to take part in the States’ first business survey.

The questionnaire, which was mailed to all Guernsey businesses yesterday, asks for information about turnover, costs, assets, financing, staffing and anticipated growth for the year ahead.

The survey has been instituted by the Policy Council in conjunction with the Commerce and Employment Department and has been welcomed by business leaders who have been in discussions with the States over it for the past year.

Its aims are to collate as much information about Guernsey industry as possible to provide better, more robust data for economic analysis.

A series of drop-in sessions have been arranged at which staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the survey.

These take place at Sir Charles Frossard House on 1, 3, 9 and 11 March from 5.30pm.

States economist Dr Andy Sloan (pictured) said a good response to the survey was vital.
