Payment reintroduced after U-turn by Health
Thursday 25th February 2010, 2:29PM GMT.
HEALTH has performed a U-turn and reintroduced a payment to some disabled people for working.
Those attending Interwork will again be paid £4, backdated to January.
But a £1 attendance allowance for those who go to St Martin’s Community Centre has gone.
The Health and Social Services board met on Tuesday under mounting pressure to overturn an announcement in December that both would be scrapped as part of efforts to trim its budget.
The department’s deputy minister Andrew Le Lievre (pictured) also apologised in the States after making the announcement in question time as members of the Disability Alliance watched from the public gallery.
It will now work with the Social Security Department on reviewing employment services.
