THE owner of a seafront confectionery shop is preparing to barricade his property against foot-deep floods next week.
High tides are expected to reach above 10 metres on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
As a result of the predicted highs, police have decided to close the road from the Weighbridge taxi rank to the Town Church on all three mornings. They have also warned shops and restaurants that they could be affected.
Candy Shop owner Phillip Morgan hoped the floods would not be too serious.
‘We have only been affected by the high tides twice in nine years and we have a board that goes across the shop doors.
‘We have never had to close. I will be getting in contact with States Works later today to see if they can provide us with some sandbags, because if it’s as bad as they say we will need them.’
The Candy Shop, at the Quay, suffered water damage in December but that was following a hail downpour.
