A HARD-FOUGHT draw with Rovers on Sunday saw Sylvans claim the women’s football league title for the 12th time in 14 years.

‘It was excellent,’ said Sylvans coach Lisa Sylvester.

‘Not just from the coaching staff, but from the players and the effort they’ve put in.

‘We’ve had great turnouts in training and they’ve really come on as a team.’

The westerners had to come from 2-0 behind at half-time to eventually settle the score at 3-3.

Right winger Eleanor Holden, who is the team’s joint captain with Rochelle Vaudin, was the star as she scored once and set up Claire Rouget and Kate Le Gallez for their goals as well.
