BELS are desperate to play this weekend to set up the possibility of winning the league at their great rivals North the following Saturday.

Victory at second placed St Martin’s tomorrow would mean that Bels need only two more points to claim the title they last won in 2008.

They currently have 45 points from 17 matches while Saints have 34 from 15 and behind them reigning champions North have 27 from 15.

Their next match is at Northfield the following weekend.

Bels boss Ian Champion refused to get drawn into the ‘winning the league at North’ line of questioning but admitted that he and his side are raring to go for the Saints match.

‘We want to keep going,’ he said.

‘We don’t want to be held up. We want to get it over and done with.

‘It’d just be nice to win it as soon as possible. Getting over the line is the hardest thing out of the whole season.’
