CONCERNS are mounting today for the safety of a Guernsey couple missing in Chile following the massive earthquake on Saturday.

Andre Lanyon and girlfriend Laura Hapgood, both 29, were last heard from on Friday.

The couple were in the beach resort Pichilemu, close to the quake’s epicentre.

The Surfers’ Cottage, eco-accommodation in Pichilemu, posted on its website details of those who were missing.

Dad Kevin Lanyon, 54, said the couple had arrived in Chile from Bolivia just that day.

‘At the moment we haven’t heard anything,’ he said. ‘We’ve got no news at all. We will hopefully get to hear from him soon.’

The family’s last contact with Andre was by email.

Miss Hapgood, who worked at Healthspan, and Mr Lanyon, a firefighter, left Guernsey at the end of 2009 to travel around South America.
